Vin answers???
i BOUGHT THREE PARTS CARS A WHILE BACK FOR MY 1979. i DID A VIN SEARCH ON MY CAR i AM RESTORING AND IT CAME BACK, BUT WHEN i TYPE THE VIN FROM ONE OF THE PARTS CARS THAT I HAVE IT SHOWS THAT IT DOESN'T EXIST. WHY??? I CAN FIND NO INFO OUT ABOUT THE CAR. VIN # 1Z878AS437967. LIKE TO KNOW WHETHER IT WAS A SCRAP CAR OR SALVAGE STOLEN ANYTHING. THE PREVIOUS OWNERS I TALKED TO ALL BOUGHT FOR A PARTS CAR. SEEMS WEIRD. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

My guess is the "A" does not belong. Recheck your vin tag and you can use the vette fact website to help you decipher--- http://www.vettefacts.com/C3/1978.aspx

There is no letter A in a 1979 Corvette vin. There should be a number 9 in the spot where you have the letter A. It does NOT belong there. If one is there, something has been done to it. Do you have a picture of the VIN tag?

That's an otherwise correct VIN for a 1980 L-48 Corvette. If you are trying to use Carfax for your search, Carfax does not cover anything older than the 1981 models.
