Default A Pillar

With T-tops off today, the worn and tatty tops of my A pillar covers finally got to me.
Does any one know of a NOS supplier or best aftermarket source? I'm not sure if all the different aftermarket suppliers/retailers sell parts from same aftermarket manufacturer and if is still possible to find NOS.

Also, any watch outs on the actual process of removing old and adding new?

You'll have a hard time finding NOS interior pillars in good shape.. the T-Top latches usually tear them up over the years.

I sell both the CA pillars and the Al Knoch pillars, I've had better luck with Al's but from what i understand CA is working on the tooling to make them better.

https://willcoxcorvette.com/corvette...moulding-68-96 If you do decide to order these, just specify the year and color in the notes section upon check out and use the 10 off code from the current sale which is Willcox10 you'll save 10 percent off.

Hey Willcox, since we are on the subject I'm gonna piggy back on the OP and ask you a question I've been meaning to get an answer for from you...

If a 70-76 upper dash pad (and interior) were fitted into a 78-82 car, which A-Pillar and heading molding should be used?

My assumption is the 78+ pillars to match the t-top latch area, but curious if the profile down at the pad will be the same. Your opinion please sir!

Wow.. that's a hard one.... I'd probably have to advise you to use the 77-82 style considering the header upper chrome molding was different and the visor mounted differently. I don't think the 76 and older pillar will work with the 77 and newer chrome header.

77 cars used the plastic style pillar like the 78-82 cars and the dash pad was the same sub-straight as the 76 and older cars so I don't see that as an issue wither.

Well that clears it up and answers the question. I did not know the header moulding changed in 77, thought it was not until 78. So, yes 77 sounds like the perfect solution with the newer upper and older 76 style dash pad. Thanks!

(Are you intrigued or disgusted? lol Can't be a custom resto-mod without an interesting interior swap, huh? )

I like resto mods......... they warp the mind around interesting modifications that require great thought and process... Not for the weak for sure.
