I installed electric headlight conversion I purchased off fleabay. The unit works good and install was straight forward enough. The wiring harness was simple, one wire taps into low beam power wire to trigger relay. Is there any way to slow the motors down some, the buckets open and close so fast they vibrate the car. I'm no electrical expert but I would think there would be a control modulator that could be wired in to adjust the speed?

Don't know the exact answer but, Did you put back all the springs back in original light assembly? there is four and I only used 2. Wondering if that's the difference.! This is how mine open with two springs.....BTW , the car running has nothing to do with the lights/...
You mean like a speed controller? Ask the manufacturer...
There might be an easy way...if you can post a schematic maybe we could help
I did ask, he wants $175.00 for the controller. Don't mind paying that but thought there may be a more cost efficient way. Would not be surprised if there is a 100% mark up on his product but he is in the business to make money. I'm cool with that if need be.

Thanks for video, I only used 2 springs per the instructions. Not sure what you meant by the car running has nothing to do with the lights?
I wonder what it would do if you added the other two springs.?. I dont know who you bought your system from , but I didnt need anything else aside from what i bought.....A while back someone replied that I didnt have to have the car running to run headlights.( I knew that).

Can you send me the link or info of where you bought your electric headlight conversion please. I would appreciate it. I think it is a great mod for our cars.
Tim
So send me $100 and I'll ship you one...Seriously shoot me an email-if you have any questions richard454 at comcast dot net
I don't know how "He" does the wiring- and if he sold you older motors - they have a common ground between the electronics and the case- this won't work.

I'll hook up the other two springs this weekend to see if it makes any difference.

I used a PWM on my license plate/reverse lights-to slow the motor down-
Cool looking car Richard, post #9 has the link to the kit I purchased with pic of the wiring harness, do you think the ebay item you listed will work if you can tell from the item description and pics?

Hey Bill-
Thanks!!!
The springs won't change a thing- there's been several conversations regarding what the springs actually do- and sort of came to a consensus that they are there for safety.
As far as what's in the picture- those look like newer motors- but the old ones are dimensionally the same....and the red cap is removed- as the old ones used white cap-to turn the motor in the event of a failure.
You can check continuity between the metal case and the ground wire- the motor that will work w/ the PWM will show open.
And the wiring- don't know what's in the box- as I wired mine up using standard DPST Bosch type relay w/ some diodes-which just controls the trigger wires....

I had issues with the motors bouncing up and down as the lights went down. It shook the whole front of the car.
I put a PWM on the motors (like the one above) to slow them down. That worked but it did not have enough power to raise the lights. I was going to see about rewiring it so that the PWM only slowed the motors on the way down, but then I wound up changing the whole thing out for a system that uses a single linear actuator which I got from a vendor whose name shall never be spoken here.
When I had the first setup in, I also put in a service switch so I could raise the lights without turning them on. I can't remember off the top of my head how I did that, but it did not take much and would have been handy to have. Might be worth looking into.
