Hi All, This is my first post. I hope someone has an answer for me. I have a 1982 Corvette, I fixed the issue with the dome light timer. But, I found a wire right next to the timer box. it has an orange and a black wire that plug into a cream color plug. then coming out of that same plug is gray/black that is about 2 1/2 feet long and has two wires inside the coating. It does carry 12 volts. I did not check to see if the 12 volts is switched or not. I will try to post a picture, tonight if I can. Please let me know if you have any idea. Thank you so much.
Vanity mirror power wire possibly? That is about the only thing on a 82 that I can think of around the timer.
Willcox
Hi Willcox, My car does not have lighted vanity mirror lights. But that does mean it didn't have them when the car was new. Thank you! I have a feeling that you are right. I never thought of that. The wire is small enough to fit in the hanger.

If the connector is there and just hanging loose then yes that is what it is... I think it was a T connector too.. I just don't remember for sure.
If I'm right the orange wire (on the courtesy circuit) is hot at all times so you might tuck it away in a safe place and possibly put a wrap of electrical tape on it for safety.
Definitely the right color wires and right place for the visor mirror light. The additional wire after that connector should be the wire leading to the mirror light itself. Unless you intend to replace the light I would disconnect that connector as you're got live wires that were likely ripped apart somewhere in there
