I just did the brakes on my 68 and had similar issues. I spent the money and bought a Motive power bleeder and now the brakes are perfect. Well worth the money.

Try process of elimination. Break the line loose at the the master, does fluid come out ? If yes then go to next fitting, proportioning valve, does fluid come out, if so then move to a caliper. You have to figure where the fluid is stopping, it's possible there's something in the line blocking fluid.

Can anyone tell me how long the shaft is between the booster and master cylinder, mine appears to be two inches or so.

I'll second the Motive Bleeder. I now have the best braking my car has ever had after buying one.

Look at their website for corvette tips. I use A big c clamp. It works well but I did gravity bleed the right front when I had to replace it a month or so ago. That worked great, for the first time ever.

Is it power or manual? Did you remove the complete interior including the pedals and the pushrod and clevis?

The pedal has 2 holes one for manual brakes and one for power

I bought the one with the adapter for the GM master cylinder. It is a bit larger than the MC, but once sealed properly, it worked perfectly. I used the J bolts and the chains and really had no issues with it. I suppose you could use a large C clamp as others have suggested.

I've read that you can make one from a mc cover. Just drill a hole and tap for a barb hose connection and seal it. They average around $15 and the motive bleeders are on amazon for $52
