John: Check your carb to be sure but I think the 72 cars used a Holley list #6238-1. If that is the case you can reference this chart and you will see they used either a 6.5 or 8.5. http://www.hotrodreference.com/951/h...valve-ratings/
My 70 LT-1 has a 8.5 in it if that helps.
