Default fuel pump

i have an 82 collectors edition. I heard these cars will perform better with a fuel pump change with a pump thats on an 85 thru 87 vette. Is that true and if so would that be an ac delco. thanks

pumping more fuel into a engine that can't burn it any faster will do more harm then good

the change over to a 85 to 89 fuel pump is one of the best upgrades you can do.The 82 pump does not keep up very well.also open up your cat or change it .These do upgrades are the most common on a 82.you also might need to look at this https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...solutions.html

YES! I changed mine out and it made all the difference in the world.


Also, (although counter intuitive) make sure your emissions stuff is up to par. I made sure all mine was working, in conjunction with the new fuel pump and the CFI works very well.

It is an improvement but your engine still has to breathe thru an intake that was first designed for a 305 CI engine .. It won t be dramatic

I had my fuel pump changed on my 82 collector like we discussed. It made a noticeable difference on the performance. I'm very pleased. Thanks for the feedback
