74 T Top Rear Window
Car recently painted and Im slowly getting it back together. My orginal rear window had a few deep scratches, I installed anyway it with 3M - 5/16 " window weld and primer, used the spacers but had them positioned to low. The window being installed to low wouldnt allow the trim to fit and the scrathes looked terible, so I ordered a new window.
I thought the 3M 5/16" round ribbon sealer roll was to thick so i installed the new window with 3M - 1/4" round ribbon, got the spacers right this time and I liked the 1/4" ribbon. I was pleased with the install but i didnt install the trim yet, a month has passed and i have driven the car many times, today during a drive my window fell out, it was hot here around 90, guess I should have had the trim installed.
My questions:
Should i stay with the round ribbon ?
Do i need the 5/16 diameter?
Does the trim a fragile piece hold the window in?
Would using a Urethane black cartridge be better?
The ribbon leaves a gap at the bottom that looks like it will hold water should i fill with urethane?
Did the factory install have the gap at the bottom? i could place the ribbon a little higher to reduce gap depth.
Thinking out loud.. there were only around 5 points of contact with the ribbon so maybe the urethane is a better method....
thanks for any comments

Closing out the post heres how it went:
I used the 1/4 " x 15' - 3M Window Weld round ribbon ($10.77).
Placed four spacers in position on highest lip of the window opening and taped them in position.
Pre fit window and marked centers of window & opening with tape
Placed ribbon on my primed window just off edge
Removed seatbelts it makes job easier
Position window on spacers check centers and tilt glass up into opening
Press edges to ensure full contact
Install rear window trim pieces.
In my view the 1/4 " ribbon looks much better than the 5/16".
FYI there is around 4' or so of ribbon left over.
