I have a 1980 Corvette. I recently noticed that the car has an exhaust leak on the passenger side. You can hear it and if you can get your hand down there far enough, sometimes you can feel the little puffs of air.
Here is the problem, I am not mechanically sound and the guy that was going to help me do the fix is bailing on me. I have to start a new job in 2 weeks and will be moving 650 miles away. So I need to be able to drive the vette that far.
Is there a real danger to driving the vette with the exhaust leak to my new home and then fixing it there once I am there?
The "little puffs of air" lead me to guess that you need to tighten the manifold to the header tube. That is really (lest there be a rusted hole) a place where that condition exists.
As far as driving it-- it could be anyone guess. IF there are no wires, hoses, lines near the "puffs" could damage,
Remember that "little puffs" at 600 rpms becomes a blast furnace at 2500 rpm for 600 miles.
