dumb GM paint question?
I've been stripping assorted brackets off my 74 for fresh paint and found that a fine wire wheel on a bench grinder seems to take it down to bas metal in nothing flat. just wondering did they just paint the pulleys & support brackets at the factory with paint on bare metal & no primer?

Many of those brackets, if not most, were manufactured, punched or pressed by other vendors who followed a GM spec for finish...black. The Corvette plant only assembled with the exception of the fiberglass composite body panels.
