I was in the process of replacing all the headlight related hoses on my '81 when I noticed that it seems the previous owner put the actuators on the wrong sides. Am I correct? Does it really matter? Are they basically interchangeable other than the hose nipple direction?
'77 here, those are same as Donnie shows. So that's 2 one way and 2 the other.
Doubt mine have ever been moved. Looking at the hardware connection to headlights I don't think it would matter which way other than maybe upside down. I guess the outward direction vacuum hoses could be that way to stay away from the pointed hood.
On my 1982 they turn to the outside also, but the hose goes on top of the canister of the actuators. I put two rights or two lefts on a car, & the hose hit the hood on one side. Been too long, can't remember. LOL Gene
Thanks for the help guys - this is a great community.
As it seems about 50/50 on the orientation and they are working where they are, I guess I'll just put them back where I found them after I replace the actuator rod seals.
Doesn't an '81 have the "coffee can" vacuum reservoir? If so, I'm almost positive I recall reading that the direction of the actuator connections changed to inboard with that reservoir.
