Default Parking brakes

Two weeks into my first vette a 77, and today I rebuilt the parking brakes.Who in this world thought of that system. After trying to put the hold down springs in for an hour I ended up making a tool that fits thru the hole in the axle plate to push and than turn the clips.

So far,got the front brakes done new calipers ,pads, rotors, and hoses.

Got the front and rear bumpers off,get her ready for paint.

Got the interior out.

All the bushings done on the rear end. New bolts also.

Got to cut the grass tomorrow so no working on the project.

Next will be the rear brakes.

Sounds great Pete! If you can please feed the photos bears. They get grouchy if you don't put in some pictures on a regular basis. LOL. Anyway, glad to have you along for the ride!Sounds like you have a lot of grass to mow or else you would have it done quickly as fast as you get stuff on your Vette done! Have a good one!

Funny, that's how my resto mod got started. Needed to get the PBs rebuilt and next thing I know the entire rear of the car is out and I'm on my way. Good luck!

Default More stuff

Funny the more you think you're almost ready to drive her around the more you see to do to be safe on the road.I hope some time this year I'll get her to paint.

The parking brake system seems kind of diabolical at first glance, but it's actually similar to any old drum brake system. I helped my Dad redo his old MGB's brakes, and our parking brakes are very similar. Not saying it's not a PITA though!
