My 69 back deck lid is stuck shut. The main latch release in the middle does nothing when turned. It's hard to feel under the side ones with the top under there but I can feel the latches on either side and when you pull them back they don't do anything either. Any ideas? I'm totally stumped! Seems like a cable may have broken
Thanks so much, Debi
Can you reach back there with a pair of pliers and pull on the wire at the latch, to get it/them to release? It might be necessary to remove the seats to give yourself more room to see back in there.
See if you can get hold of the lock right by the hole in the lever and pull each side. This is the hole where the cable is attached and you can pop one at a time.

Ive had that issue with my 68. Mine sometimes sticks ene though ive released the lid. While holding the lever I give the lid a quick jerk upwards at the center, but hang on as it will snap open violently. If that doesnt work then it could be a cable problem.
Fold both seats forward or remove them so you can crawl in there with a flashlight. Look and see if the brass wire stops have loosened up. They are tightened with a Phillips head screwdriver or a 1/4 in wrench. I loosened mine up, pulled all the slack out and re tightened them. If a cable broke or the end came off you should be able to see if the releases are moving at all. If they continue to be stuck have an assistant place their hands on the lid to keep it from opening violently while you use a tool to grab the release lever and use your palm to hit the lid.
Good luck

just unbolt the latch Wilcox shows, from the stuck side/sides.
this will allow it to open up, ... (be ready for it to spring up !)
then reassemble with it open making sure both latches release when you pull the lever,
after that carefully slowly lower the top checking for alignment, don't fully close until it looks right. or you will have the latch stuck again.
