Default Trans Cooler Lines

First off, I want to apologize in advance if I've asked this before. I am at the point in my build to where I need to attach the trans cooler lines and I cannot figure out the routing. I Have a AIM, read numerous posts and pics but can't get the lines to set right. Can someone send me some pictures of the routing of the lines? It would be greatly appreciated. I see the pics where it shows the lines attached to the lower control arm but my confusion is where/how it routes up at the radiator and how it routes once past the lower control arm. I've seen pics where it shows the lines running down the frame rail near the oil filter. I can't get the lines to lay that way.

Thanks for your help..

Basically the same but there are a few differences along the way

Let's try this. The motor is out of the car. From radiator it goes over/under cross member, next to upper control arm bolts then ? Around/ under motor mount?

Let's start with the basics. These are the lines that came with the car. I didn't disassemble it. They appear to match others I've seen in catalogs

OK I'll try
Keep in mind these are from a 72, BB with TH400 but more or less should be at least vaguely similar to yours. Check your AIM

AGAIN, these are from a 72, BB w/TH400 and I do not know what yours are supposed to do, use only as a guide

Coming out out of the trans, then lines go down, line up together and then turn towards the front of the car

From the front showing the lines coming along oil pan

From the front, underside showing the lines dropping down UNDER the frame, from near the fuel pump to run between the frame and the lower control arm.
Ignore where they go through a rubber grommet, that was needed since the lower control bracket had a gusset added

From the middle of the car, underneath looking towards the passenger front wheel. Lines go between the block and fuel pump, turn 90 and drop down between the lower control arm bracket welded to teh frame (where mine is gusseted and has that rubber grommet)

From the front, underside
After the lines clear the control arm (you can partially see the mounting bolt form the last image there in the lower right background)
The lines both turn outward and one ends into a rubber line while the other makes another turn and points upwards for a few inches and then goes into a rubber hose

The one that went into the rubber line goes over my front swaybar and into a short section of steel line with the fitting into the lower rad port

The line that turned upwards before connecting to a rubber hose goes up along the rad and connects to a short 90deg fitting that goes into the upper rad port

Anyway Hope it helps somehow
M

Thanks Mooser. So, I should wait and drop in the motor first? Since they run near the oil pan

Anything other than connected to the trans will work.

I just laid mine in sort of the right path and tied them out of the way when the motor-trans went in. then fed them into the proper place afterwards.

Crowsfoot on a long 3/8 extension is great for tightening the lines to the trans once in place

Did you add the grommet? Where is that hole located? In the control arm?

When I had the motor out I added some mini-gussets to one of the spots that can sometimes be an issue. I didn't get carried away and do as much as the GM book says but it's just a Boulevard crawler these days anyway.

From the rear bolt of the lower control arm bracket to the frame

Here is before the hole was cut out for the trans lines
