Default My 75 shine up

I know there have been many threads concerning cleaning and detailing procedures but I have to put this up anyway. All of the products I used have been posted on this forum before but individually, not together. I am not endorsing any of the products but they worked for me.

I started with LA Awesome and stripped the old wax off. This was a fairly simple procedure.

Next step was Meguires ultimate Compound. I did small sections and kept the compound wet even when removing it. The hood got 3 treatments because of some stubborn swirl marks.

My last step was the Wizard Spray Wax. Very easy to apply and I waxed the whole car in 30 minutes.

I even sprayed down the engine and most of the engine bay with the Awesome and let it sit for 30 minutes before spraying it off with my power washer. I was very careful to not get the electrical's too wet and it started right up when I was done.

I think she looks pretty respectable for an 18 year old paint job. I have a cruise in to go to on Friday and a small show on Saturday. Stone chips and all considered I'll put it up against any other 5 footer in my area.
Thanks for looking.

Great looking 75. I also like the "newer style" rear bumper. I have one for my '76 along with one of those repro 80+ front bumpers that bolt to the older C3's. Both bumpers were on the '76 parts car I have and are in great shape. I keep going back and forth with adding the pace car front air dam as well. The parts car I have has the pace car air dam molded in and it looks great.

What taillights are you using BTW? . . . LED? They look great as well...

Your car looks great..!!!
I use many of the MEGUIERS automotive products and they work well if one follows the directions..I use the meguiers spray-wash and a soft cotton cloth to do my '78 and the stuff works very well..with no compound req'd..MY SA paint is near new and very well done..Jim

The tail lights are standard incandescent bulbs. I believe the rear bumper cover and exterior mirrors were from a 78 at least that is what the guy who sold it to me said. Anyway I am having a ball driving it and have the rest of the year planned out. Thanks for your comments.

Very nice. Did you do the Meguiar's by hand or with a DA polisher?

Everything was done by hand. The Meguires compound took about 4 hours over a 2 day period. Sore wrists but well worth the effort.

I'm guessing the P/O was mistaken. That style of bumper came on the 1980 and up (but that doesn't mean someone didn't have it on a '78 the the last owner may have gotten it from...)

My '76 still has the Tall Chrome Mirror like the earlier C3's, but I believe the mirrors you have "began" around '75/ '76 or so, and continued through the 82 model year (my Parts car '76 has those same sport mirrors).

Looks great though. Nice job.
