I painted mine Steel Cities Gray ( because I like the color, and that`s the original color on the trim tag)....BUT... dammit man, that`s a very pretty blue! Almost makes me re-think my choice!

I think i'm already to the point of selling... Not decided yet but I found a '71 Roadrunner with a 440 for only $2,000. I feel like the L-48 which is by now probably watered down to 100bhp is not enough and it's not worth putting a bunch of upgrades on a car with 101,000 miles on it. Also back seats would be nice haha, I feel like I kind of bought my car on impulse buy because I didn't get a lot of stuff I wanted with my car (maybe i'm being a little picky) but for 1. The blue interior, 2. Vinyl seats, 3. L-48, 4. Manual windows, no a/c, and some convenience items that I would have probably never bought a car without but the price was just too good and now i'm starting to realize it's not exactly what I wanted sadly. Also I really want to do another restoration and have a car to be able to be excited to work on everyday like my Vette was but now that its pretty much done it's not as fun anymore :/. Another thing is money, I owe my dad $1,300 on this car and I know I could pay him back and finish the restoration on the roadrunner with the left over money and the roadrunner was just as much a part of my child hood and the C3's were. Still deciding what to do and am going to see what my dad thinks about the whole situation. Please give your input i'd love to hear your thoughts! Attachment 48015082

That's a hard question for any one of us to answer for you - very personal, and depends on your wants, etc. The roadrunners are very cool. The only caution I would have is watch for rust. A $2k '71 440 is almost certain to have a lot of expensive issues. I've restored a few late '60s early '70s Mopars, and you really need to watch for rust. A rusty Mopar will eat you up like a rusty early Mustang or a bad birdcage. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I've decided I am going to sell the Vette if the Roadrunner is in good condition rust wise, the owner tells me the floorpans/trunk/frame are all good not perfect but no major issues so i'm not too worried about the rust and will go check it out next weekend as it is 4 hours away.

Let us know about the Road Runner, Having been a Mopar man most of my younger years, I still have a soft spot for them, but honestly None of them ever handled like our vette. Can't resist a 2K road runner though.

It runs, needs some more stuff before it's driven but a 440 for $2,000 is well worth it in my opinion haha

I agree that a 2K 440 Road Runner is a screaming bargain. Make absolutely sure its not 2k for a bad reason. I will also add that while your Vette is an L-48, keep in mind there's no cheaper engine to hop up than a small block Chevy. Hot rod parts on a Mopar will cost you more. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Thanks! It's a matter of luck for me now... I can't get up to the roadrunner until Saturday and I really hope nobody buys it from under me. Also I understand that about getting more power out of these engines and the cost but the 440 is 380hp and 490lb-ft torque already so I think that will satisfy for a while and buying the roadrunner and restoring would let me sell the Vette and pay my dad back haha

I too am the owner of a 1974 L48, 190 hp 350. Rather embarrassing when a Ford Escort puts out more hp than a Corvette....ANY Corvette. This said and the fact it's hard to be a purist when faced with hp numbers like this, I chose to create that which hasn't been created yet, and do it in such a way as to make a GM engineer smile, so that's what I did.
I started with deciding on the LS architecture. For me it was a hands down no brainer. I also intended on going with a power adder, so I began with an iron LQ4 with an LS3 top end.
It took me about a year to gather the parts and installed a 2014 ZL1 supercharger on top.
So now instead of 190 hp, I'm pushing north of 600 hp..to the wheels, get 18 mpg and your mom could drive it to church on Sunday.
So the silver lining to owning a less desirable Corvettes is being able to transforman it into something a little more desirable

Roadrunner looks like fun, especially for $2k! If you're in it for the project, then that's a great starting point. Good luck with the sale.
