My guess is it'll go for somewhere between a buck and a buck and a quarter... Real car with a restamped engine.

It means just that...the stamp is not the one that it left the factory with. Whatever it means beyond that is up to one's imagination.

Wait, WHAT?!? So you can buy a different engine that's non#'s matching and then have a "#'s matching" stamp put on it and then sell it as a "#'s matching, restamped engine"?

-I'm going to have the only 1979 L82, Aluminum Profiler Heads, "#'s matching, restamped engine" around, then!

(I hope that's not what this means...)

-I can modernize my 79 with new parts and keep it's "# matching" status; woohoo! *Grin*
"#'s matching, restamped Steeroids Rack and Pinion conversion" -that makes it worth more money, right?
"#'s matching, restamped Alpine touch screen stereo" -with the original AM/FM radio #'s "stamped" on it...

I have no idea what the seller is claiming...do you? This is precisely why many on this forum advise buyers not to pay original motor money for any car...unless proof positive is provided that the motor (and transmission) are indeed the same exact items that the car was born with. Matching numbers is meaningless terminology.

Nope; I didn't say, nor imply what the seller may or may not be claiming either. I was just asking what the term "restamped engine" means; that's still what I'm asking.

These have the LT1 350 right, with some Duntov magic suspension ugrades?

Edit: Wow, I just looked these up. 25 made in 1970 and only 8 were convertibles. Only 53 total C3 ZR-1 were built between 1970-72.

At first I thought this was one of the ZL-1 cars What were like three of those? (And 69 Camaros, ironically)
