Default 1980 Rear window removal tool

Vet Lovers

Does anyone know what the rear window trim removal tool looks like and were I can by one at?

I scoured the net and some vet parts sites but there are many different looking tools where the prongs are narrow and some farther apart. I want to get the correct one for the job. I need too repaint or strip the paint from the rear window trim.

Thank You

The trim was already off of my 79 when I bought it, so I didn't have to remove it. However I've also seen several styles of trim tools.

Another thing to keep in mind though - there is a good chance that you'll break a few of the clips while removing the trim (they are 36 years old, and probably brittle). On my 79, some of the broken clips could not be re-installed without removing the window, so I hired a window shop to remove the window and re-install it, and replaced all of the clips while it was out.

Default Thanks Bradleyb66

I read about that it seems like it would not be worth the hassle. I was also thinking of paint the trim while on the car. Just be real careful while I am doing it! I do have a person I know who used to own an 81 vet and he said he took his off, painted it and put back on with no problems, and said he could do it for me. Only issue s he does not have the tool any longer.

I really would hate to mess it up though as the car is old and if teh clips broke then a bigger hassle would ensue.

Thanks for your advice - Much appreciated
