If you can't afford to insure it for what it is then sell it.

I went through the VIN thing with the DMV. Haggerty was who I chose for insurance. The modern VIN is 17 characters, and some DMVs will return a 13 character VIN as "no record found", or "improper".

My Geico insurance card clearly says "Corvette". If you have to try to stiff the insurance co to save a few bucks, your premiums on that money pit would be the least of your are the worries.

Is this true? Is it legal? How do you do it?

Any help would be great.

Thanks!
If you are worried about thee cost of the insurance just get classic car insurance. It is usually alot cheaper than the regular companies. I have unlimited mileage on my 80.

I went with Haggerty's and the only restriction I got was no autocross. Mileage was limited, but its my sunday wheels anyway. Don't skimp on your insurance, that's one headache you do not need.

LOL You ask a honest question while reading other blogs about the same topic and get hate. sounds like the internet.
Last time I do that.

You can all sleep well at night knowing that it is insured as a corvette under another company.

The most frugal people I have met are often the most well off people I have met.

The answers you got here are nothing compared to some you could have gotten. The internet makes tough guys.

Its what insurance companies do.. they know all the ins and outs. They know all the scams. Its what they do 40 hours a weeks 52 weeks a year, You aren't fooling them. They have seen every story and every attempt to say or not to say the exact thing in order to try to save on premiums.

I think the answers you got here were honest and trying to help you avoid heartache later. Think about what you asked, you want to try to hide the fact your car is a corvette by just saying its a chevrolet, that is dishonest, no?
