Default Adding Factor Air to 72

I would like to add factory air to a base 72 non-air coupe. If I can secure the orginal parts, do you have to modify the the core brace or the firewall? Has anyone done this lately ?

What are you calling a "core brace"? For factory air cars, the heater core opening in the firewall was enlarged to accommodate the larger AC core.

The 72 AIM has several pages showing how the factory C-60 option was installed, including dimensions for trimming the firewall.

The fire wall hole is bigger for the A/C. Do you want to cut your fire wall? Vintage air makes a very nice A/C unit does not require cutting. For pictures look at the thread I started about fire wall differences 68-72.

The AIM has the parts list and the original GM part numbers.

Thanks for all the info, I'll checkout the vintage air, might be easier to install.

Vintage air is a cleaner install, a definite upgrade for your non A/C car, the kit comes with everything you will need. Northern Corvette has a sale on right now, but they are available from other vendors if it works better for you.

I like that I was able to loose all the A/C clutter ....

And it tucks in nicely ...
