Hello everybody. My Corvette is a 1980. I bought it privately and he was not the original owner. The paint is excellent and may have been repainted at some point. It is the same red I see on 80/81's. A little orange hue to it. Does anyone know if there was more than one red in 80? Or if not what the color is called. Thanks in advance, Brian
Now, if you're interested, auto designer usually tint reds toward either yellow (orangish) which attracts young buyers; or, they add a slight blue hue which attracts older/affluent buyers. It is a fairly reliable targeted audience strategy. I was taught this OE-inside tactic by one of our Lincoln designers.

Thank you for the info. I am 46, so where do I fall in the color scheme? I really like the color and wanted to be able to get touch up if needed. Thank you

Why don't you decide for yourself which red secondary hue you prefer. It could change within your different life stages. Now you're one of the few that know what you're looking at from an industry demographic design standpoint.
Some of the forum supplier partners sell bottles of touch up paint in your (our) color with a remarkable match, at least for mine, I have to admit.

I pulled out a couple of C3 parts provider catalogs and noticed that Corvette America offers a bottle of touch up paint for your car. It's simply called, "1980 - Red - Code 83. It's on page 142 of their catalog (PN# 44102)
Mike was correct (as usual) - I forgot that they were still using laquer in `80. They flipped to base coat/clear coat in the summer of 1981 when they moved the plant to its current location. Hope this helps. Good luck

"Corvette America" is a major C3 parts vendor. They will send you a catalog, or look online. Not all of our C3 parts vendor partners (i.e. Willcox or others) sell touch up paint to my knowledge.
