I can't read the Tach... How is it known that the car has AC? What am I missing?

No air cars didn't have the dash vents in the center dash cluster..

The tach.. if you copy the picture and paste it into your paint program you can see that it's not correct for a LT-1

More trivia, the front grills (left and right) are '71/'72. Clear lenses are '70/'71.
'70 grills don't have screws on the bottom edge.

if you are tired by fixing it there is a good option for you. you can sell it there are so many companies who buys a junk car there are no condition for you an inspection team come there and check out your car after checking they pay you and buy a car from you .

Good eyes, no it is not correct. Should be 6500 red line. My guess is this car is not an original LT-1.

It is not an LT-1. Wrong dash, wrong tach.

I bought my first Corvette, a low mile, base engine ‘69 in August 1970. It was first sold in February 1970. I sold a K-code 1965 Mustang, a solid lifter 289 with a 7,000 redline,to buy the Corvette. The newly introduced LT1 was of special interest to me because of the Mustang’s engine. I really wanted an LT1, but financially was out of question.

Something in a previous post in this thread tweaked my memory that AC was available in the last year LT1. I thought it might have been in Dave McLellan’s book, Corvette from the Inside. That’s a big chore to look up, then I thought of the Corvette Black Book. Sure enough, the 72 LT1 was available with AC. Not an exact quote …To discourage high rpm operation LT1s with AC had the base engine’s 5,600 rpm tach instead of the 6,500 rpm units used with non-air LT1s. The fear was high rpm use would throw the belts. A risk I would have willing taken.

I hope this doesn’t upset anyone. It’s just history.

We get that, but my post added valuable information that NOBODY on the thread knew about the LT1 engine option. Worth posting and reading. Sorry if it offends you.

the problem is people are reading through 50 posts before they realize it is a dead thread. the info could be posted without reviving a dead thread. i just PM'd tuna joe who is still active here to see if he can give an update on what happened to this car.

The car now belongs to a new owner.
And yes, this thread is dead.
Like LeeS said, it's six years old.
