1970 LS5 454 Engine Block
Hi all,
I'm new to the site and have a question for the group.
I have a bare block 1970 LS5 454 390hp and was wondering it's value?
ID 3963512
Date G27 70
Suffix T0325 CGW
I am missing the 2 bolt main caps. The bore is standard 4.250.

The numbers you show are a little odd.
The cast date G 27 70 translates to July 27, 1970, but your engine build date translates to March 25. Something is wrong. Its not March 71 as there is no CGW code for 71 and the block could not be built before the cast date.
Do you have a good pic of the cast date?

Looks like a B27 cast date to me, which would be Feb 27th and correct for a March 25th assembly date.

The numbers and stamping and dates line up well.. its for a 8816 may 11 1970 corvettte.
looks like it has sat for decades.. and with missing mains then will have to be machined pretty much all around.
buying a used bare block is a tough call. and expensive to ship if you don't sell it local.
sellers on ebay want 1500+ for them.. you might get that much for it...
