Default Wrong hood emblem?

What are people's thoughts on putting a different year hood emblem on different year corvettes? Im all for originality but my 76 is missing its original round emblem and I prefer the look of the crossed flags on the earlier c3's. Is it frowned upon to put the wrong emblems on?

I'm like you, I prefer originality also. But it's not like the later years C3's are super collectable. And I do not mean that as a put down. I have an '81.
So I would go with whatever you think would look best on YOUR car.

Hi Lucas!
It's your car, do whatever you want, especially if you are not concerned about originality or having the car judged. I too prefer originality, but like you I do prefer the 68-72 crossed flags on the nose. Even though my 73 has the round emblem, I wish they would have kept and used the crossed flags as shown in earlier 73 promotional photos.
Regards,
Jimmy

Photo attached shows the often seen yellow 73 Promo with crossed flags up front and the aluminum wheels.

I agree with those above.... "frowned upon" by who? Who cares? It`s YOUR car! I did subtle mods on my car, and don`t really care what anybody else thinks of it, it`s what I like. You should do the same!

I agree, do what makes you happy, mine doesn't have a front emblem and I like it!

I like your idea, and It's so subtle I don't think many people would notice it, even in a crowd of other C3 guys. Even if someone actually came up to you and voiced their dislike of it, he's probably not someone you'd care to pursue a friendship with, so just say "Oh I'm sorry I offended your sense of perfection, but right now you're offending my sense of smell so we're square."

By the way I put the C7 flags on the front of my '70, haven't got any complaints yet.

the 76' is the best year made of any vette, last of the real stingray's,and it would be blasphemy to put anything other than the 76' round emblem on your car.next you will want a wing or worse 18' wheels.when we answer to the man above he would not be happy.I've had too much to drink i fear.

I don't have any emblem on the nose right now, but i like the crossed/flag idea. Are the mounting holes in the same place? App the same size?

Looks nice, who cares what other think, go for it.

I don't have an emblem on my 75 either. I also like the look of crossed flags and have been considering the same improvement. My thoughts were to grind off the mounting studs and put it on with industrial double back tape instead of drilling more holes in the nose.

Do what you like. I put a 73 emblem on mine and an 81 hood.

I may be wrong... (it`s happened before )
but I think the round emblems are "stick on" types, and don`t have mounting pins like the flags do.

The round emblems are bolted on too. However, I'm not sure if the distance between the two mounting bolts is the same for the flags. The space between the bolts may be the same as the flags on the 73-74 noses because the diameter of the round emblem is larger than the 75 and up emblem.

I would put a Ford blue oval badge on it and say it was a two seat Mustang specially built for John Delorean.
