1975 and 1980 frame differences?
Hey all,
I'm starting work on my 75, finally, and this requires a second frame to do it the way I want. Theres is a very nice 1980 frame for sale in my area, my question is, will it work with my 75 body?
I want to build the frame up separate, drop and LT1 from a 96 into it, then remove my 75 body and just drop it down on top, thereby letting me restore the original frame/engine setup to pristine condition while I use the other as a daily driver. So will it work? What is different between the two frames?

Keep in mind, fuel tank filler neck location changed beginning in 78.

Fuel tank mount and style are different, but can be made to work with some fabricating.
The larger issue in your situation is the differential / cross-member. 1980 went to a completely different design.
74 will work for you, just a different rear impact bumper design. 75 76 & 77 will be a direct swap, 78 & 79 will require addressing the fuel tank noted above.
73 & below have chrome bumpers, 80-82 have the new differential & cross-member.
