something popped in my steering column today and now it will spin all the way around when I turn the steering wheel.. I mean the part where the turn signal switch and where the key goes something is broke..
it's 1982 corvette ill try to take some pictures tomorrow.. that would explain it better than I can with words..
I would like to know if anyone else has had an issue like this and what the problem could be.. thanks
Sounds like the knuckle on the steering shaft broke. It is plastic and would cause your problem although your wires are in there at bottom and should stop it from going all the way around. Either way you are going to have to start taking apart to see. Not to hard a job.

Since I don't have one in front of me, I am trying to picture this. Those are Hingis should be mechanically connected to the column, and that should be bolted to the dash at bottom, right? Is it turning down low too, closer to the floor?
See attached and item I mention is 45 and 46. I received this from Wilcox corvette as I have problems with my column. If it comes apart you will see from pic that it would cause you problem I believe.

Thank you that looks like it may be the problem. I was wanting to get some idea what the problem might be before I take it to the shop. moneys kind of tight right after Christmas and didn't want to bite off more than I can chew lol thanks again
