Well, I spent the Holidays taking everything off the frame and then cleaning it up with the plan to powder coat it, but I changed my mind and decided to use Chassis Saver paint on the frame (I previously used it on a Chevelle). The frame was in great shape with no rust issues. I am planning to change to a Burgeson steering box, so I welded up the large hole near where the box will bolt on. I cut the plug from a piece of flat bar I got from Lowes. I also welded the diff braces, engine mounts, and many other places based upon the Duntov article, here are some pics:
looks very nice , I know that took a lot of time to do as well.
just a thought , have you tried those "flap disc" type discs for your angle grinder ? they actually remove the weld quicker and leave the steel a lot smoother with enough key for paint to grip.

Hi bazza77,
Is this your way of "gently" telling me the weld could of been cleaned up more, if so, I agree with you...but I was exhausted. I did receive a flat disk for my angle grinder in a 4-pak but that was after I had painted the frame, so I had no idea that they work real well. But that's why I like this forum, a lot of times they tell it like they see it, much appreciated --
