I find myself liking my 69 one of two ways
Hardtop or no top
So i looked at devices like this for us lazy people
But the price ...ouch,
Anyone made their own lifts please share with pictures
I`ve seen this one posted by a forum member.... thought it was cool so I saved the pics. Harbor freight type winch with hardware store cables, hooks, etc. I think he did an awesome job of it! Note the winch is mounted to a shelf that`s mounted to the wall.... you can see it again in the last picture hiding behind the yellow grinder.
Jim...i do believe that is doorgunners
My concern is with one cable close to the top does it try to spin or rock much
It doesn't spin but will turn about 90*........it has a little jiggle for a couple seconds. If possible I would slow down the geared motor some way for a smoother "landing".
By the way Bats....I did lift the hardtop over my head and stepped into the car to set it in place with my shoes off.......but I didn't have enough Aleve tablets to cure the pulled muscles.....that's how the hoist came about after searching the forum for ideas from other members

Nice. Anyone know where I can get the lift strap set made for C3? Eckler is out of stock and Zip does not seem to carry them. Thanks for all the postings Some great ideas here.
Those pictures were in 2017. Since then I have moved, but I made sure to take the lifting assembly with me because it has worked well for 5 years. (I forgot which Member I got the H.F. idea from).
You can see I mounted the hoist directly overhead in the new shop.
