If I remember correctly, the two occasions I've had to get up close to a real L88, I'd seen "L88" written in crayon on their rad supports?
The same with an LS 6.
Someone please correct me if my memory is failing me???
I used to buy brand new Harley Davidson motorcycles, trailer them home, tear them down to the bare frame and customize them. Any stock parts I would not re-use I would sell on craigslist. I would start at twice the price that you could buy the parts direct from Harley Davidson and they would sell like hotcakes. What was left I would take to motorcycle swap meets and still sell them for over the new price from Harley. I could never figure it out, but I made a small fortune on the new/used parts. I can see the same thing happening here.
Hmmm, I wonder if this is the same ebay guy that sells NOS air filter wing nuts for $160 apiece. I wanted to ask him if actually the $160 would be for a box of 100???? And what was the date code stamped on the wing nuts????
The growing internet has made it very hard to actually get double retail on something people are more savvy now,
I feel lucky on every sale
With the vette stuff,
We've all seen people ask crazy high prices for junk but if they get it or how much changes hands thats another story.
If i post a corvette part on here for sale for 150.00 and ebay has 50 of that same part same condition for 85-95
It doesnt make the guy who won't pay my 150.00 a cheap skate,
But this is some rare l88 part not worth 100k to me but who knows what it is worth to some cat trying to piece meal an l88 together.
I read this yrs ago in an old dirt bike magazine. The editor was driving across the AZ desert when he stopped to look at Indian pottery at road side stand. Some pots were marked $5 others looked identical and were marked at $10. When he asked the old Indian why the price difference, he shrugged and said, "some people feel better about spending more money"
