Default water pump pulley does not line up with crank

I have a 87-96? sbc 350 thats going in my vette and i just bought a water pump pulley and it is a 1/2" off sticking out to far in alignment to the crank pulley its for a long water pump which i have and my whole pulley system is 6 rib serpentine pulleys (water pump, crank, and alternator) should i try a different long water pump or sohould i go short water pump and shim the pulley out if its to short? or any other suggestions?

well all C3's from the factory came with short pumps but I cannt comment on what is correct for a serpentine system.

engine is not original to car its most likely from a suburban or truck from the late 80s but i rebuilt it and beefed it up

you stated it is 87-96 engine so I know it is not original but the question is why did you go with a long pump? Is it required for the serpentine drive?

It's original to the engine so I figured it would work but it doesn't

You would be better served to put the front of the motor back as GM delivered it with the correct water pump, pulleys Etc. Right now you have a mix bag of incorrect parts.

For sure get rid of the long water pump.

How does the water pump pulley line up with the other serpentine pulleys? You need to determine which pulley is wrong or if the water pump is the problem.(must be reverse rotation). Do you have all the serp brackets from the replacement engine (truck)?

No I do not I'm just running crank water pump and alternator all with the 6 rib serpentine pulleys. And I bought a long water pump alternator bracket and the long water pump I have doesn't have the holes to mount it but aftermarket long water pumps do have the holes. so I can't see which pulley is off.
