differential weight

and approx physical "boxed" size (L x W x H)
need sizes so i can get a shipping quote.

I had to box and ship our diff (for a '78 and including the yokes) a year or so ago. The details were: -
Weight (kg) : 50 ,
Length (cm) : 29 ,
Width (cm) : 39 ,
Height (cm) : 50
I built a box around the diff, so this is about a small as it'll go!

since i have put the 700r4 in, my 3.08 diff is the wrong ratio.
so i'm putting in a 3.55 that i found local'ish (i'm in Adelaide and i need to get it from Melbourne),
and i needed the weight and dimensions for the transport company quote.

vette connection @ seaford (down frankston way)

Just good to know who might be selling parts for these cars locally. Not surprised it took you 12 months either, some parts are almost impossible to find here.
If you do decide to drive over let me know and I'll bring my Vette over for cruise and a chat.
I sent you a pm too.

Took out the side yokes and wrapped them in bubble wrap and plastic bag.
Used triple wall cardboard box.
Lined with 1/4" plywood on top, sides and bottom.
used 5/8" pressed board on ends.
Lined that with solid Styrofoam in chunks and sheets.
Used strapping fiberglass imbedded tape in all directions. They provided Heavy Object labels for outside on all sides.
Total weight - 104lbs
Measurements (exterior) 15" x 15" x 20"
Shipping cost from GA to upstate NY - $76.
UPS has a max on weight of 150 lbs, but you better make sure the box is indestructible because it will go thru some rough handling.
I had a T56 trans get wrapped by them and shipped to me from FL. It only weighed 75 lbs.
They broke the tailshaft housing.
Luckily it was insured for $900 which they paid as they wrapped it.
They will not do a partial pay.
I offered to fix it for $200.
Nope....they said, "keep it" and sent a check for $900.
Yeehaw!
