Default 1979 corvette with a paint code for a 1980 corvette

have a 79 corvette has been painted dark green but trim tag reads a 76l paint code that would be dark claret with a 122 interior that would be leather oyster could this be right ?

You have posted 1980 model year color codes. Are you sure you have a 79? If so, it is possible the trim tag has been swapped.

What is the VIN and what is the build date on the Trim Tag?

I'll assume you misread the 6th digit and it should be a 9.
So....
1z8789s4 would be a correct start for a 79 VIN L48 motor with 49428 being the sequence number.
Now, a late production like 49428 would probably have an August 79 date code, "M". My black79 was built September 79, 3 weeks from the end of production, no. 51xxx. Trim tag date is "N"

Your trim tag date "F" would have to be January79 if it was in fact a 79 trim tag. Somewhat early. January 80? As you say paint code is 80 and jives with original paint under the green.
Does your "79" have the integral spoiler in the back bumper and the more streamlined front bumper? Are you a new owner not quite familiar with certain body changes year to year?
I think you have an 80 with a 79 VIN tag installed.
Opening a can of worms............?

A possibility. Codes and dates do not line up. Is the vehicle certification label still on the driver's door? Post pics of your car.
