1979 corvette tachometer
my tach works intermittently, I would pull it out and squeeze the parts where it slides into and it would fork for a short time. I found that one of the pins that plug in was loose so I soldered it. I can't get it to fit back in the slots. I tried jumper wires but it still wont work. are there voltages/resistances I can check on the three pins or the three slots they slip into

I am not getting any resistance or voltage readings on any of the three "plug in" clips, I know on of them is supposed to be ground, one is 12 volts, and one comes from the distributor, I really don't want to pull the dash out. so if anyone could help me I'd appreciate it.
