Strange fuel gauge issue

Default Strange fuel gauge issue
Working on a 1976 Corvette, and every once in a while the fuel gauge will spin around like crazy, and then go back to working again. Super intermittent. None of the videos or guides put out by Willcox list this symptom, so I was hoping someone on here has experienced this before.

You got me on this one... I've never seen a gauge do that. Possibly something is putting power on the ohms wire? I've never tested one that way because it will probably doom the gauge.
