Default Progress on 79 Resto-mod

So it's been three and a half years since I started my 79 resto mod. Things have not progressed as quickly as I'd hoped, but I'm making progress nonetheless. In December, I finally got all the rear suspension components together for assembly. My friend Fast81 helped me assemble the parts. I apologize that some of the images are a little blurry.

Here are the cross member tabs from Dragvette:

Next were some spacers I had made to fit between the cushion and frame:

I modified the cushion so that the cross member stabilizer disks would compress against the cross member instead of the cushion sleeve, pushing the cushion against the spacer. You can check the modification on my web-site, but here's the installation:

Next we installed the trailing arms followed by the strut rod bracket with the 1/2" spacer a local machine shop made for me.

Then we installed the half shafts. I used the upgraded u-joint caps available from dragvette:

Then we put on the half shaft safety loops, connected the half-shafts, and installed the strut rods:

We finished for the day by putting on the VP&P 300# composite spring:

The next day I installed the 3/4" rear sway bar, but forgot to bring my phone, so have no pictures yet. So after a little over three years, I finally have a rolling chassis:

I have been doing other work on the body and some other systems such as a/c, so I'm a little farther along than these pictures would suggest. For anyone that's interested, I've documented nearly everything I've done on my webpage (see link below).

So far this has been a challenging project, but lots of fun. I could not have gotten where I am without the help of the forum members who have gone before me. I want to thank everyone for helping me along and making this a great hobby and community to be involved in.
