If you look at the tabs above the photos in his link there is one for documentation and the build sheet says that it is an LS-5 (285hp net / 365 gross), so the 425hp decal is a little weird.

800 pictures and not one of the block stamping, but the description says "Engine does look to be overhauled at one point in time, But still seems to be in it original fashion." so it must be original!
I agree that this is well overpriced for an automatic '71 with a NOM 512 block that appears to have a Sept. '69 cast date. I know the 512 block was used for both '69 427 and '70 454 motors, and '69 production was extended through December of '69. Was this block originally a 427?
that's the best photographically represented car ad I have ever seen. but still missing lots of undercarriage pics that would make me want to look further at it. I think it looks to be in great condition and worth a look if that is what you are looking for. if you think you are going to find a LS6 for 40K and buy it from under the nose of a seller, think again.
although it does have a LT1/LS6 tach redline.
I keep telling everybody that an automatic is not a devaluation. the younger generation, and lots of them have money, do not want to shift gears. some potential buyers don't know how to shift, or don't want to shift, will not buy a 4-speed. everyone can drive an automatic, but not everyone can drive a 4-speed.
40K is not going to buy you a perfect car... maybe 60K will.
but this car at 40K is at a convertible price..
if it is not a numbers car, then buy on its condition...
Yeah, I'd love to have an LS-6. I always see them at outrageous prices but they seem to stay for sale forever. There is only one old Corvette I really want to buy: VIN 194671S117829. 1971 LT-1 warbonnet yellow convertible. I'm still looking for you.
I must be missing something? I don't see any mention in the ebay ad that says this is a LS6 or a NOM. Why can't it be an LS5?
The whole ad is lacking details. $40K is a lot for just a big block, upper $20's if it was a 4spd would be a fair price.
I just watched the one video when the car was on the lift. I never saw anybody move a camera so quick - it was getting me dizzy!

In this image, it appears to have a decal on the air cleaner indicating it is an LS-6... for whatever that is worth. None of the pictures show aluminum heads, however they could have been painted.

In the google drive link, there's a pic with a 425hp sticker someone put on the air cleaner. There's also a pic of where someone broke down the block codes. The casting date for the 3963512 block was July of 1969 which doesn't make sense for a '71 car unless it was replacement. The 512 blocks were used for both '69 427 motors and 1970 454's. Without seeing the pad stamp assembly date, it's impossible to know, but I'm thinking this might have been a 427 block originally.
