Hooker headers and side pipes on my 68. Originally chromed, but needed some work. Had the repairs done and ceramic coated them the color of the inner wheels.

From another 68 brother your car looks great.
Next to my rally wheels they are the only other rims I like on a 68.
The match to the rims with the pipes really pops.
I have toyed with the idea of side pipes on my BB.......
The empty holes in the rear valance would bother me.

Default 69 side pipes

The only pipes that I like are the 69 sidepipes. I had hooker side mount on a 66 427 and they were loud and I don't know how many times I burnt my leg.

That one requires work to make it look like the stock one.

Mine is in the avatar, not finished yet with spiral baffles. I used an original 69 sidepipe rear filler plate and filled in the gaps. Ended up looking good. I tried an aftermarket rear piece with the extra ears on it and it fit like garbage.

I would love side pipes on my 70 but replacing the rear panel is not currently an option. I wonder what backup lights in the holes would look like if done well? I know purists......Mark

That was always my plan but I never found any looked right in my '69. There was a wild custom 70-72 back in the 80s that had lights back there that looked good. It was orange and purple and about every other color with a blower. I think it was Detroit based. Saw it a Chicago World of Wheels show.
