tire size
Will a 295-50-R15 on the rear and a 255-60-R15 on the front fit on a 1981 ?

are you talking about the stock wheels?
if stock wheels the front will fit, the rear at the very least needs the parking brake cable relocated.

These are 295/50/15's on my 72 Road Shark. They pretty well fill up the area under the flared wheel wells. In would think they would rub on your car. I my opinion.

295's would require you to move the parking brake cable.
I was going to go this rout also, but found that the 295's were really hard to find and I didn't want the hassle down the road if I had a problem with one.
I opted for 255's on the front and 275's on the back.
