Default Front wheel movement

When I put my hands at 12 and 6 and try to move it, it moves a little. Just a little play, does this mean I need new ball joints? I have a 71.

If you are turning the steering wheel and feel "slack" before the wheels actually turn, your steering box may need a little adjustment, or, replacement.....

No not steering, when it is jacked up it moves back and forth s little. I'm currently installing borgeson steering, that's how I found it.

That's the best first answer. If, after adjusting/regreasing the bearings, it still does it, then start looking at the ball joints. They are pretty hard to move the way you are describing, but things happen sometimes.
