Saw this on the TV show, Junkyard Empire, last night. Sure it's a demonstration of how the ignition system works, but they at least could've shown the real place the battery goes!
I don't think they were trying to say that's where the battery is located. What we got here is a lazy illustration. If the battery was there it would be like an old car with sidemounts, but instead of a spare tire a battery. I don't think they think that's what a transmission looks like either.

They are not that far-off. C2 corvettes with AC has the battery in Drivers side engine compartment.

I just could not believe what they were asking for the car when they finished. To me, after they finished the car was worth near to what they paid for it.
I saw the episode.
1. 4 kill switches....was parked in the driveway! PARANOIA strikes deep!
2. Replaced the points type distributor and coil without even checking it.
3. THEN they found out it was a coil wire (harness)
4. The ufked up the side pipes royally!
5. Then Some R.U.B. rich urban businessman...buys it for $32,500
6. I don't think they knew it was a convertible with two tops!
