Where is coolant temp gauge sending unit located?
My coolant temperature gauge stopped working. It is a 1982. It has a newer coolant tempt gauge and the main instrument gauge has a positive connection - I took it apart to ensure this. Where is the sender for the coolant gauge located? I checked my shop manual but, while it clearly references the sender in the gauge sect. 8, it doesn't exactly specify where it is located. (also, be candid about how easy it is to replace if deemed necessary. While the aux fan temp sender on the pass. side block next to a spark plug is easy to see, it was deceivingly difficult to replace.
Btw, where is the oil temp gauge sender located? I think I will replace it as a precautionary measure on a 35 yr. old car the next time I change the oil.

Don't know what year you have but my 73's is located below manifold on driver's side below alternator. There should be a green single wire going to it.

It is an `82. I pulled off the air cleaner assembly having read on an old post that it was at the front, driver's (left) side, but couldn't find it. It is not the ECT sensor, but the basic coolant gauge sending unit.

Yup, driver's side, single green wire going to it. The oil temperature sender also has a single wire going to it, right above the filter. I have an 82 as well and just bought both sensors to fix my gauges.
