I am working on making my 1971 C3 into a vintage looking race car. One of the things I want to do is ceramic coat my Doug headers and side pipes flat white but it appears that no one out there is willing to do this. Here is a pic what I want to do.
Does anyone have any suggestions of how I can get this done??
We have, all been burnt on pipes and shields look tacky to me and not racy,
When i swapped my 383 for a members 454 he had used a whiteish header wrap down the pipes, i thought to myself what an ugly tacky mess when i get home that comes off,
But it keeps me from getting burnt, looks ugly racer, so i left it on, i since noticed ebay has it in all kinds of colors,
Not everyones cup o tea but a great option for some,
ceramic coating is naturally white.
my company does a process of Ceramic Flame spray onto parts, for High Tech industry.
just like painting with aerosol can, only with a hydrogen flame and injected ceramic white coating.
so the tech is available if you can find a supplier.
I have coated Hookers on my 78. They were looking a little shabby so I painted them with high temp paint from Walmart. Not perfect but they look decent. Since you're building a racer, you don't have to have concours quality exhaust.
Have they given you a reason why they won't do it?
Sorry for the late response to this comment….. The reason the local shops give me for NOT wanting to shoot my pipes white is that they cannot guarantee that the white will meet my expectations. They can do a gray but the don't like doing white because it may not come out "white".

It might be helpful if you give us an idea of where you're located....
That's exactly what I was thinking, and why I asked the OP where he was located..........
I had a set of the Edelbrock headers and "Y" pipe coated by them, for an '85 Firebird I owned, way back then. It was more of an aluminized coating, but from a few feet away, it looked almost white.
