Earlier you stated it was getting fuel? Did this happen after you changed fuel filter? Are you doing any tests to eliminate possible problems. We can offer suggestions, but we need some feedback on tests you are performing to offer additional suggestions. Fix filter if the inlet side is going to carb.

You say you smell fuel. Can you verify there is liquid fuel squirted in the carb from the accelerator pump. When you disconnect the fuel filter and crank it over does fuel stream out?
Take a spark plug out and ground it. When cranking over does it spark?
