I have a 17,700 82 Collector edition with the spare tire that has never been dropped.
I carefully removed it, took photographs, noted that the '****' were still on the tire and all the Goodyear PolyGlas markings and then Carefully unscrewed the Schrader valve, smelled Bowling Green (which apparently smells like 35 year old moldy rubber) and THREW IT IN THE RECYCLE BIN.
Less than worthless...any tire place will charge you $5.00 to 'dispose of it'.
I pulled my spare down to check it and found it had the original tire still mounted on the rim. It looked like it was only used once or twice. I've spent hours researching and days attempting to do a full rim off restoration on the tire. Please don't tell me I've been wasting my time. It was a real effort to preserve the original bead and remove the tire using Q-Tips.
