I just bought a 68 project car and I do not recognize the attached photo. Any help is much appreciated.

I'm in the completion stage of a frame off on a 68 convertible and I've never seen anything like that. Is your car a coupe or convertible?

My car is also a convertible. I was thinking it looks like something top related. I have a 64 and a 59, and I can tell you that it does not belong to either one of those years. It was included with the car I bought, so one would think it belongs to a C3

I thought it might be the forward section of the convertible top frame.

I would have to walk out to the garage to confirm

It is the underside of the front of the convertible top.

You got me wondering so I went out to the storage shed and pulled out the convertible top. I was thinking after my post that it could be top related, but mine still has the trim panel installed and I didn't take the time to pull it off to see what it looks like underneath. The AIM really doesn't show much either. Maybe I'll pull the trim panel tomorrow and see.

Bingo.

On the folding top, the header is steel. There is a black plastic trim piece which fits over the header on the under side (interior) of the top.

FWIW: If you do not have the 68 assembly instruction manual (AIM), consider getting one. The AIM could help getting your car back together. Do you have a 68 owner's manual?

Mike
Thanks for the help, I actually feel a little foolish for not realizing what it was. Bought a project car to help out a buddy, and was just taking inventory of all the NOS parts that have been sitting in the car for the past 25 years. I've decided it's too large a project, so one less AIM to add to my collection. Thanks again.
