Default Door lock cylinders

Anyone else have a problem trying to fit the snap ring on the connecting rod for the door lock cylinders? Yes I know on the pic it is missing the final piece that holds the rod to the **** on the back of the cylinder. But my question/problem is once I get everything on I can get that c clip or u clip into the grooves of the clyinder to lock it into place. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Is there a trick to get enough force to push everything tight together? Mine came with the circle clear gaskets and I think that's what is causing it? There's not enough room to get my hand in there clearly to grab it. Mines a 82'

Is your problem with the driver side cylinder? I'm almost certain it is a different size (longer) on account of the alarm and/or anti-tamper switches. I recall reading somewhere (from one of the vendors?) that many lock sets sold for '78+ won't work for this reason.

Harbor Freight sells 12" long needle nose pliers If needed, you could heat and bend the tips of the pliers to grab the clips properly.

Agree the HF long needle nose pliers are super handy. HF had the bent nose long needle nose pliers too at one time. I bought both in a HF set awhile back on a whim and they turned out to be great to have! HF might still have them. I do have to limit my trips to HF though, easy for me to spend a $100 there, LOL's!

If you still have the old Snap Clips Try to reuse them. I had to after I Damaged the paint since the new snaps had all that new tension on them.! Yes, I went through the fiberglass and new paint after trying and trying to get them in place. and yes I did use long needle nose pliers too.

My '72 being a convertible, does not need door locks, and so they were eliminated some years ago in one of the repaints....
