Are you replacing the cable/schroud assembly or just the cable? If just the cable it can be purchased from local parts house. It is same as speedo cable just shorter. The cable kit should come with instructions as to how to shorten [as it is a universal kit and comes quit long] and special crimper to attach end. Make sure schroud is clean inside [brake clean] and no kinks, lube new cable with graphite lube. Spin by hand after install into schroud to make sure there is no binding. Removing cable from schroud, it only comes out 1 way I think from tach end, but needs to be disconnected at both ends for reassembly. Tail lites on your advatar are after 73 and in 74 GM went to HEI with electric tachs, so what I described is for pre 74. T

Man, you guys are sharp, seriously though - good catch on the tail lights!
Most of the online corvette shops also sell 90 degree adapters for the speedo / tach cables so you can avoid really tight bends. I think they're like $50-$75 if I remember correctly, so not cheap, but an option.
