Does anyone have any experience with Classic Chambered Exhaust Inc.'s Vette-Pack side exhaust? I am currently running 2-1/4" C2 chambered mufflers behind the '69 C3 covers and the car is just too loud. Like they say. "If its too loud, your too old".
My car is a '75 with a 383 Stroker putting out approximately 510 HP. Testing my current system with a db meter in a parking lot, I am getting 88 db at idle and 96 db at 2500 RPM. I'd like to take some of the volume out without choking down the engine.
Classic Chambered offers a 2-1/4" diameter baffle inside a 3" outer body which is the largest diameter that will fit behind the '69 C3 cover. It is made up of a 20" chambered muffler and a 20" resonator. I've heard the sound bites off of their website, but I'd like to hear from some one that has heard the Vette-Packs in person.
I have not heard this particular exhaust, but I do have the stock replacement '69 side exhaust mufflers are they are fairly quiet, I can barely hear it at the red light with other traffic. When you hit the gas and it can be heard but is not unbearable.
I am running the Classic Chambered Vette Pack on my 69 original side pipe car under factory covers. I also am running a 383 stroker motor, but with a few less ponies. ( only 439)
I like the sound and do not think it is too loud. My wife has not complained about them either. (Yet)
I have a friend with the full chambered muffler under 67 covers and his seems almost twice as loud.
My set up is shorty S/S headers with 2 1/2 collectors, 2 1/2 in. S/S pipe to the 2 1/4 in. Classic muffler inlet, the classic 20/20 muffler and Sweet Thunder S/S tips.
