Toyo or Bf Goodrich
Hello everyone I was sent Toyo brand tire 225r15 70 in error and retailer will take them back and provide me with original order bf Goodrich same size with my custom 5/16 whitewall or I can keep Toyo. Any thoughts? According to retailer Toyo has a better rating 600 vs 400 on bf Goodrich. I'm not sure ?

BFG. Not a great tire but better than Toyos. For performance, you want a lower treadwear rating. Unfortunately they don't translate from one manufacturer to another but I know the BFGs will be adequate for your car.

I vote for the BFG's in the 225/70/15 size.

How times have changed! I remember when the only requirements were traction or looks.
Long life was irrelevant when you consider laying down two smokey black stripes from every intersection.

There don't seem to any good 15" tires any more.
I currently have 255/60-15 "Summer Only" on my '76 that are getting hard with age.
In that size there are only BFG All Season.
Oh well, mine are not losing any air, so I'll keep running them.
Eventually I'll have to buy 'regular' tires, or bigger wheels and tires!!

I'm gonna make a guess here and say that for "most" of us, tires will need to be replaced because of age waaaay before mileage? Unless were talking about your daily driver?

Hi kendal,
If you were in Oz I would recommend you ditch both and buy some Sumitomo HPR 2000 tires which is what I have on my '69 vert, they are a modern compound tire and stick to the road well in both the wet and the dry and not 30yr old tire technology like the BFG. Unfortunately I don't think the Sumitomo HPR 2000's are available in the US. Mine are 245/60/15.

no way in hell will I put J...A....P. tires on an American made Icon.
I would rather run bald old tires, before I put a tire on you can't pronounce in English.

Toyo has a plant about 10 miles from my home....From what I hear it's a real good place to work.....They pay well and treat their employees very good....That said I wouldn't put a set on my Vette even if they were free, not because of what country the company is from but I like white letter tires and only the BFG have the look I want on my Vette.

BF Goodrich is an American owned company based in Charlotte NC. What is the nonsense you speak of?

I paid under $1400 for my set of wheels and tires. 18" with Y-rated 45 series Continentals that perform way better than any 225/70/15 or 255/60/15 tire will.
