Default Gasket Ask(et)

1982 model year.
Assembly manual shows a hood gasket along the back edge of the hood.

My 1982 CE is very low mile original. The gasket is not there.
Even if the gasket fell off, there would be residue of the yellow trim adhesive that GM used....there is none.

Was there a gasket or not?

Been bothering me.

thanks guys.

unkahal.

It almost looks like like it was deleted.

How about someone posting a pick of a hood weatherstrip on an 81 or 82...from the FACTORY.

Thanks. It's not like I can't find a vendor for it....trying to find out where it goes and and what the factory ACTUALLY did.

thanks unkahal

The under side of the hood is different (with the ram-air system) than the 81 pictured....first, it is painted the original silver beige, not black.
Second there is no evidence what-so-ever of a seal EVER being put there.

So end of production....The last of the C-3's...did Chevy just bag the gasket and not mention it?

Or was this Bowling Green Quality control 'oops'.

None of this is clear to me.

Thank you everyone for the NCIS!

are you the original owner of the car?
if not anything could have happened to that hood prior to your ownership.
how about a picture of the hood so that we can try to confirm it is the original hood and hasnt been repainted
